...in the face!

things like this help me start my week off right.

not sure where this is... but i'd definitely like to go.
wouldn't you?

i can say that i've never been "called a 'nerd'", per se, at least not to my face...but after reading this, i have to wonder why?!
its me in a nutshell. and i'm proud of it! ;)

right? monkeys

word to your pugger.

my mantra for life, much less a monday morning.
hope you have a good one!

pinbinge wednesday!

happy wednesday, y'all!

i've decided to make an attempt to have a regular rotating schedule with my posts... starting now!

its the middle of the week; what better time to serve up some serious eye candy and delicious inspiration,
courtesy of pinterest?!

(if you don't know, you MUST go. like now. then come back.)
(via)
i pin almost everyday; i pin independently as i peruse the internets, and i pin from my "friends" who also pin and
share their finds on the site.
oh, and there's the addictive app! for pinning on the go!

so without further ado, i give you, my favorite pins of the week!
luxuriously laid back... i want this in mon maison en france.

"the most perfect nude lip ever?"
(i'll let you know.)
office inspiration... i need a clean, stylish,
somewhat minimal space.
obsessed with just about everything in this photo. that lamp is DUMB--I adore its golden, shiny, raw stoney aesthetic; juxtaposed against the rusty, chippy beauty of the bed, the natural, linear beauty of the stump side table... i DIG it.
i saw snow-capped mountains last week and about fell out.
i need to go skiing this year.
this is in canada, but reminds me of bachelor gulch.
aspen dreams...sigh...

i adore pom poms. maybe its the cheerleader in me, who knows.
and um, is that a stuffed pony on her necklace?! dying!
bunny would adore this. she's been asking me to do some crafting for mommy quality time this week...
think i just found our project!
serenity now!
this living rooms kills it. that black wall,
and still so much warmth. love.
make this my shoe closet, fairy godperson? please? like now?!
my fabulously talented girlfriend nicole over at sketch42 got me hooked on this crewcuts jeweled collar. i'm convinced i can make it myself... we'll see.
dying to find a tuxedo to wear to holiday cocktail parties...
ideally one that doesn't make me look ridiculous.
superfab emily schuman of cupcakes and cashmere whipped up this little storage system for her sunnies... completely brill in my opinion! i need to make this happen, toute suite!

precious, no? if only i could sew for real.
cause in my opinion, sewing a straight  seam for curtains ain't exactly sewing a dress. perhaps i just need more practice.
 my everything.
rachel zoe, spring 2012. collection.
could she be more chic? (short answer: nope.)
i love a custom paint job.
in my mind i can do this myself...
though i fear it may wind up looking a hot mess.
when we move into the "hopefully forever" house (still looking),
i just may have to give this a go.
we have a rather nondescript bookcase built into our (rental) kitchen... its been challenging trying to make it work.
seems to me this beauty is a little bit bar, a little bit library, a little bit curated treasure trove, a whole lotta fabulous.
the hair and maquillage from louis vuitton's spring 2012 show is blowing my mind right now. LOVE it all.
'scuse me, i'm headed out to buy lashes in bulk.
rz's insanely good dining room. really love it.
i imagine myself and my new la friends looking just like this.
yup.
my ultimate dining room table. the oval, marble-topped saarinen.
this bright, colorful room makes me happy!
methinks yellow window tx's may have to happen. soon.
i don't have many opportunities to wear my hunter wellies, but with gorgeous leggings like these and an oversized knit, i think i'd have reason enough.
starting to make my lists for holiday gifts...
slightly blasphemous in my world as thanksgiving hasn't happened yet, but i'm determined to get at least my christmas gifts across the country on time this year.

hope you enjoyed my finds...
follow me on pinterest for more!

winter weekend getaway

fabulous friends invite you up to the chalet
for a holiday weekend getaway?
you mustn't arrive empty-handed.
a rustic, re-usable enviro-friendly satchel,
packed to the rim with luxurious trim.
flowers, wine, treats of all kinds;
good for two-legged friends and four.
a fancy game night in, by firelight's glow, is much more luxe when cuddled up with an hermes throw.
some cozy slippers for him and for her and some sunflowers to brighten le chateau, will ensure this invite will happen again, and back to the slopes you'll soon go!

gift horse

nothing pisses me off more than seeing christmas and holiday decor out and about even before halloween.
(ok, i lied. things which piss me off more: my waistline, drivers who refuse to use their blinkers, old navy commercials, the waiter bringing me flat water when i clearly asked for sparkling
(i said "con gas"!!!)...

i digress.

the day after halloween, my inbox was flooded with the
first wave of this year's onslaught of
holiday deals/gift ideas/party dresses/etc.
all of this has me freaking out a little bit
--i have got to get on it with my cards! gifts! i'm living across the country from everyone...just how am i going to do this?!--
but also has me excited.
i truly love the holidays.
my family schedule is always jam-packed with fun events
of memory-making material, and i do my best to
decorate/cook/craft up the season.

in that vein,
(and because when i went to the halloween party armed with a bottle of veuve to give the hostess, people looked at me funny--and not because i was dressed like sexy dorothy),
i thought i would share with you some of my favorite hostess gifts, including some new ones i'm going to use this season, and get your opinion on the act itself.

do you normally give a hostess gift when attending
a (holiday or otherwise) party?

what is your favorite thing to give? to get?

here are a few of mine:
bottle service
1. veuve clicquot brut yellow label 2. st. germain 3. two hands shiraz 4. knob creek bourbon 5. avion tequila (exposado, silver, or anejo)

you can never go wrong with a nice bottle of booze.
unless, of course, the recipient doesn't drink. so yeah.

poilâne french bread.
you can order a fresh loaf to be shipped overnight for about $35bucks. it is an extravagance for sure, but for the right recipient and special occasion, it would make an impression, and be a thoughtful (and delicious) gift.

 lighten up

1. votivo 2. balenciaga 3. tom ford 4. diptyque 5. temperley
6. d.l. & co. 7. fomasetti 8. d.l. & co. 9. seda france 10. koff

the left side was curated solely on scent;
these are my faves, & they are delicious.
the ones on the right are showstoppers as far as candles go.
gorgeous!
(now if someone could send me one of each of these, that'd be great. mmmmkay? thanks.)

those are my top three simple hostess gifts... however, i often like to create custom baskets/bags for that special event
they are, in fact, kind of a signature of mine,
and i really love creating them.
the key is to tailor it to the recipient, as with any gift; i'll show you what i mean soon.
stay tuned...i've got to go untangle the spider webbing from our front gate, take the spiders and pumpkins down, and start planning our thanksgiving dinner!

back to school

a week from now my first-born baby girl will be starting kindergarten.

(wait, wait. aren't i still 22? i was sure i was still 22.
how exactly can i be old enough to rent a car without a
co-signer, let alone have a daughter beginning kindergarten?!)

i can hardly believe it, yet i'm ready.
i think.
it breaks my heart, as i feel once school begins,
i may as well begin planning her high school graduation party; time flies too quickly as it is.
then again, i know she is just chomping at the bit to meet friends here, and school is (hopefully) the best place to make that happen.
she's also totally brilliant, and i welcome the opportunity for more information to be soaked up on the daily by that
spongey brain of hers.

i remember kindergarten, don't you?
the water table, the sand table, piles of books, playdoh that may or may not have made its way into my curious mouth
from time to time.
ewwww. i know.

praying that my kid is smart enough not to eat the playdoh, not to pick her nose (in public, anyway; giver her a break), not to put up with mean girls (or boys), not to settle for less than excellence, and above all, to have fun

she's going to love school.
and i'm going to love missing her.
(remind me of this next week when i'm bawling my eyes out, k?)

back-to-school clothes shopping happened last weekend.
a long-lived tradition among millions of us, am i right?

i love this time of year.
its going to be different out here in california, but i can still imagine the crisp, fall air; leaves changing color & falling from the trees; the smell of autumn.
or i suppose i could just drive a couple hours north and experience a west coast fall.
(kinda loving it out here, can you tell? :)

tomorrow i'll share with you our chic school supply haul; but today, its all about the clothes!

ps! i'm guest posting for my gal jenny today
while she's on vaycay.
hippity hop on over there and check out more of my brilliance.

better hurry... don't want to be late for class.

give it away now: babies!

it seems like all of my friends are having babies right now.
i'm not.
but that doesn't mean i don't love shopping for just the right gift for the new babes and their mums & dads!
here's a roundup of some of my favorite of-the-moment picks:

honestly one of my favorite childrens' books
(for obvious reasons--birdie! and shoes!)
by gifted author & illustrator sujean rim; you may recognize her signature watercolor prints from your inbox every morning, as she is the talent behind the gorgeous illustrations of daily candy's website & books, among others.
the story is adorable, stylish, and fun, and after almost two years, we still read it almost daily.

what to pair with the sweet read?
why, a pair of perfectly fabulous shoes, natch!

obsessed with tip toey joey's sweet mary janes.
pick your favorite color...or get all three.
birdie would approve.

looking for something with a little more wow factor?

cutest ever
burberry three piece tunic, legging, & gilet set

who doesn't love a gift from tiffanys?

instant heirloom status.
i treasure the tiffany & co. china sets we received for our girls, as well as the precious moon rattle that for whatever reason they still play with.

my pick for a truly unique gift from tiff?
the elsa peretti padova bubble blower.
sterling silver, $200 bucks, and awesome.
also. had our financial bubble not burst in recent years,
this would be mine. ha.

bla bla dolls are one of my absolute favorite gifts to give.
(in addition to which they have the most precious knapsacks, a great back to school gift for little ones!)
not only are they made with all natural, high quality cotton, hand picked in peru where they are hand-sewn, but their home base is in my hometown of atlanta!
their shop is utterly adorable, as are their products.
from their website, here are a few of their fabulous offerings; its almost impossible to pick a favorite
as they are all so special!

 don't you want one?

the jonathan adler junior collection is about as adorable as home decor can get!
i'm loving these sweet yet stylish needlepoint pillows and totally chic nightlights:
$48

 $120
 $165
 $120
 $98
$48

finally, i give you: calliespondence!

callie burnette's fresh & unique approach to stationery makes for a wonderfully personal, and therefore special gift.
so proud to be able to call her my friend,
callie's incredible personal style translates effortlessly into her work; describe your vision for stationery perfection, and she'll make it a reality.
there's just something...special about receiving a thank you note on the baby's personal stationery.
some may think its a bit much, but i think its
one of life's little pleasures.
after all, how often will someone be able to give a thank you note on behalf of their infant child?
ok, those of you who are not kate gosselin, octomom,
or living on a "farm" in utah.
you get my point.
go here to see more of callie's work, order some stationery as a gift or for yourself, and stay tuned for
an interview with her in the coming weeks.
yup, i have an official ladycrush.

before callie, however, comes jenny.
this week's ladycrush is my very own sisterwife, mfamb.
interview forthcoming.

happy gift giving!
