in memoriam

evelyn lauder has lost her fight with ovarian cancer; she passed away at her home in new york on saturday.

this incredibly accomplished and esteemed woman was a pioneer in the beauty industry, creating the clinique brand as well as many other new branches of her mother's eponymous company, carrying the torch with organized sophistication and class.

mrs. lauder was also a philanthropist, creating the breast cancer research foundation and the pink ribbon breast cancer campaign, which had raised over $330 million towards breast cancer research at last estimate.

as the granddaughter of a breast cancer survivor
--so its in my genes, y'all--
i am so grateful to this woman for her efforts.
and for doing it with style.
the world can always use for women who are both feminine and wildly successful in the boardroom.

may you rest in beauty sleep, mrs. lauder.
you will be missed and remembered.

if you'd like to contribute to her worthy cause,

hi just found your blog, not sure how. Very sad, and a brillilant and generous pioneer of a woman. May her vision and her legacy continue as I am sure it will. This was a very nice tribute.
